Environmental Humanities

The Environmental Humanities Initiative cultivates work on campus that experiments with reshaping humanistic practices in relation to ecology. Attuning directly to this moment that climate scientists have begun to call the Anthropocene — where the human is a geological agent — this Initiative asks what the human in the humanities has to do with the human driving climate change. The Initiative will sponsor events, research activities, pedagogical experiments, and community-based entanglements that nourish the environmental humanities at UR.
